Furnace Rocker/Pier Load Cells

Does anyone have experience with using load cells on their furnace piers or tilt platform? We’re thinking about trying to get those on there. Has anyone worked with a specific company to get these in place?

Slag Pit vs Slag Pot

We’re looking at possibly getting rid of our front door slag pot, and replacing it with a pit to be cleaned with a loader.  One thing we’re not sure on is, with the greatly increasing desire to keep people away from the furnace during melting, I wanted to know if anyone is slagging off into […]

New Sampling Machine

We are using copper tube panels today, and our current SOP is generally to run until they fail (usually in the furnace), with some cursory inspection offline when we […]

Protocols for blocking bad system sensors

We have RTD sensors on outlets for all our water-cooled ductwork sections and compute a delta-T in the eaf plc.  Alarming is activated for our operators via their hmi if dT too high.  We recently had one RTD fail and give temp over 600 oC.  Discharge flow verified fine and normal visually.  DEC section involved […]
